Lots to see at the Pine Rivers Show – 3rd-5th Aug, 2018

The 2018 Pine Rivers Show has tons of fresh new entertainment, as well as the traditional Agricultural Show items, at a price much cheaper than the Ekka.  Don’t miss out on all this fun entertainment!

When: Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August

Where: Lawnton Showgrounds. Parking is off Lawnton Pocket Rd.

Cost:  FREE for children Primary School age & under, $10 for High School & Pensioners, $15 for Adults.

Firework times: 7.45pm Friday, 9pm North’s Saturday Night Fireworks.

Side Show Alley

No Show is complete without a Side Show Alley, to ride the Ferris Wheel, have a go on the Dodgem Cars or try your luck with the Basketball hoop.  Also get the yummy dagwood dogs & fairy floss here.

Show Bag Alley

Show Bags can be found in their own location, so you (or the kids) can pick and choose between the different offers available.

Little Kids Rides

The Pine Rivers Show always puts aside a special rides area, just for the little kids. With no loud noises to scare the kids and little chance of being trampled on here, the Little Kids Ride Area is located between Show Bag Alley and the Cattle Arena.

Dinkum Dinosaurs

In the Poolside Entertainment Area (across the main st from the little kids rides), the circus is gone and replaced with Dinkum Dinosaurs. Dinkum Dinosaurs is a combined interactive Dinosaur education programme and a comedy dinosaur puppet show, run over the 3 days of the Show.

The show & trail will be setup inside a 6m high by 20m long marquee, with animatronic dinosaurs, real dinosaur bones & fossils, and interactive education sessions, that also include information on some of Australia’s own dinosaurs.

Camel Rides

Also in the Poolside Entertainment area you will be able to take a ride with Cruizy Camels.

Train Ride

The Club Pine Rivers Train can take you down to the end of the Family Entertainment Area or back up again.  But don’t forget to check out the Animals at the back of the Showgrounds while you are there.

Animal Exhibits

Don’t miss out on all the Animal Exhibits at the Show. You might even catch the judging, but if you miss it, don’t forget to look for the prize winners with their ribbons, cards etc.

  • Horses – in the far end of the Main Oval – Sunday (9am- approx 2pm)

Motor Bike Show n’ Shine

On Sunday, near the back gate, the Break Free SMC are running the first ever Motorbike Show n’ Shine to be held at the Pine Rivers Show.  This club is raising money for the Breakfast Club charity, who provide food and support to the homeless and needy.  Be sure to check out these marvelous machines, from 9am, with the overall winner being presented their trophy in the Main Arena at 2.15pm.

Ute Muster

The Pine Rivers Show Ute Muster is back again, and can be found in the Cattle Arena on the Sunday.

These traditional Ag Show exhibits at the Pine River Show are always overflowing with entrants:

  • Prize winning Cake Entries (photo care of the Pine Rivers Show).

    Arts & Craft Exhibit – Paintings, Woodwork, Pottery, Paper Craft, Jewelry, Drawings and more.

  • Cookery Exhibit– Fruit Cake, Scones, Slices, Tarts,  Biscuits, Preserves, Pickles and Cakes Galore
  • Education Pavilion – Sample work and displays from the local schools, incl Colouring-In, Art & Craft, Science, Project Work & Photography

Woodchop

No show is complete without a Woodchop Competition, with the Pine Rivers Show’ popular competition starting at 9am both Saturday and Sunday.

 

The Flip Out Centre Stage

The main stage is located beside the food court, so you can grab a bite to eat and sit down to watch tons of entertainment on offer. Including:

  • School Bands Competition on Friday, followed by evening entertainment from Mono-Exchange, Freedom & Brothers Band
  • Saturday & Sunday during the day, entertainment is rotated between Dennis Dryden entertainer, the Outback Hypnotist, the Singing Chef and the Street Science Show

  • Special performances by Brisbane Junior Theatre and Lawnton State School Show Choir & Concert Choir on Saturday
  • With Saturday night entertainment by bands Cave Men, Vix and the Slick Chix & Cobalt.

What’s on the in Pine Rivers Show Main arena is surprisingly busy for a local show..

  • Sheep Dog Demonstrations – back after many years, Sheep Dog Demonstrations will be performed 3 times a day in the Main Arena.
  • Hirewire Motorcycle Stunts (photo care of the Pine Rivers Show).

    High Wire Motorcycle Stunt – 2 shows daily

  • Wheel of Steelcancelled due to unforseen circumstances *2/8/18
  • Torres Strait Island Dancers
  • Opening Ceremony on friday night also includes Show Ambassador Presentation and School Champion Awards.
  • FADS Cheer & Dance – 3.30pm-4.30pm Saturday
  • Cattle Judging – Supreme Champion 12.30-1pm Saturday
  • Grand Parade – 1-2pm Saturday
  • Scout’s Chariot Racing & Tent Pitching Competition – Saturday 10.30-11.30am
  • Horse Breeds – Sunday from 9am (on the far side)
