We at My K-Town 4503, are getting very excited about the upcoming Pine Rivers Show, held annually at the Pine Rivers Showgrounds at Lawnton.
Why? Because it is our local version of the Ekka. Yes, slightly smaller, but also more affordable, and easier to get to.
The other good thing about the Pine Rivers Show, is the majority of the Entertainment and Activities are Free. All included in the entrance price. And there is tons of it. So as per normal shows, just put some money aside for the Side Show Alley Rides, Showbags and yummy food.
Have I told you the show is the oldest & biggest running show in the Moreton Bay Region?
It is the oldest because it has been going since 1904. That is 113 shows. It would be 114 shows this year, but it didn’t run 1 year during WW2.
It is the biggest, because they spend about $100,000 with support from Sponsors, to provide free activities and entertainment over the 3 days of the show.
There is soo much free activities and entertainment, that it is too big for us to put in this article. So we will be running multiple follow up articles to give you all the information.
But what I can tell you, is that it has:
All the traditional horticultural, agricultural & industry show stuff. Like Cattle, Fruit & Veg, Flowers, Woodchopping, Arts & Crafts and Cooking exhibits, to name a few.
School Bands, Choir competitions, and Education Pavilion, showcasing the amazing talent from our local schools.
Heaps of entertainment for the younger children, including a Circus, Puppets and their own Side Show Alley.
Heaps of entertainment and activities for school aged children, from the traditional Side Show Alley’s thrill rides, to Laser Tag and Science Shows.
And when us grownups are done being kids on our own rides, and eating dagwood dogs, we can enjoy good music. Even go to the bar.
But most importantly, we can not forget about the Fireworks! Available both Friday and Saturday nights.
So stay tuned over the next couple of weeks as we publish more information on all the Show’s entertainment and activities.
The ticket costs are $15 per adult, and $10 per pensioner/ high school student, and FREE for primary school students and under.
The show is on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of August. So add these dates to your calendar now 🙂
